lunchleader: (how bout some seriousness on the side?)
Background
Right was born and raised in Union as the oldest of three kids in a working-middle-class family. His father worked as an employee of Happy-Me Pharmacy, while his mother stayed home to raise him and his brother and sister. His grandfather, Tsuyoshi Suzuki, was a retired Trainer who taught Right and his siblings the basics of survival, in case they ever had to travel outside the city walls for any reason. Right took great interest in the aspects related to food, due to his nigh-endless appetite. So great was his appetite at times growing up that he'd been known to eat Poffins and other Pokemon treats, which has led some kids into calling him a Snorlax Shifter.

Right had always been able to understand Pokemon since he was little. Because of this, he grew up believing that "people" include both humans and Pokemon, and it is "people" that he wants to help out, as his family and elders have always taught him to do. Unfortunately, this meant that he would get into occasional scuffles with bullies. Sometimes, these scuffles happen out in public, which in turn got him into trouble a few times with either a member of the Guard or one of the Swords of the Savior, depending upon who came across him during such times. Most of the scuffles were caused by two things: either someone was being mean to a friend of his, or they were messing with someone's food.

He also always had an overactive imagination as well. Even into his adolescence years, he still did childish things such as "play-pretend" and "dress-up", his playful antics leaning towards the dramatic side. The elders had tried to channel such antics into a more productive role in society, such as clothing design. However, Right chose instead to go into theater, figuring that if he can make hard-working people enjoy the arts with a smile, then he's definitely helping them make their day better. He also felt that, since times were relatively peaceful, he could do so while entrusting the general safety of Union to the combined efforts of the Rangers, the Guard, and the Swords.

That way of thinking has changed in the previous year, though. Right was given a huge slap of reality during the Great Quake last year, when he saw just how many Pokemon in the Residential District alone were greatly hurt, both by falling debris and by the rampaging hordes of wild Pokemon. But his hope didn't diminish very much, if at all, and he tried to help as much as he could by at least talking some injured Pokemon into going to the Medical Center. It was during that crisis that he came across a tiny, wounded Lillipup that was abandoned in some overturned wagon. He took it in and nursed it back to health. In return, the Lillipup bonded with him and has been his constant companion ever since.. He named her Wagon and spoiled her sweet, dressing her up in pretty clothes and getting her as many Poffins as he could afford.

When Union had to take in many Caldera refugees later that summer, Right did the best he could to help in small ways. Usually, he ended up helping by passing around food and water among the refugees, or playing with little Calderan kids and help make them feel happy and safe in Union. It was with such contact that he learned of how terrible war was: kids who lost their parents in battle, humans and Pokemon who lost their partners, and the very idea that Gigas would go so far as to starve people in order to make them surrender... While Right's passion for justice had only simmered in the face of bullies, it fanned out into white-hot flames upon hearing all the horrible things Gigas has done. He truly wanted to go out there and fight the Gigas soldiers - not only for their war crimes, but also for the whole using Pokeballs thing. His parents managed to talk him out of getting involved on the war front itself, but he still had that itch to go out there and beat up on Gigas.

It was his grandfather who eventually offered a compromise - mainly to help calm the boy down. Since Right was already part of a lesser-known theater group as of March of that year, Grandfather offered to teach Right and his Pokemon the basics of fighting after he completes his one-year contract with that group. Because Grandfather was a retired Trainer himself, Right accepted that offer.

With the Caldera war now over for several months now, and his contract just being completed, Right's starting to train with his grandpa while looking for a new theater group to switch to. He's not quite as gun-ho about heading outside of Union as he was in the previous summer, and his inner sense of Justice has quieted down...but the wanderlust and those senses are still there in the back of his mind, ready to flare back up under the right situation.

Right's Moves List
---Helping Hand: Where Right lends a "hand" to a companion to help boost their attack/physical strength. Learned at Level 1.
---Quick Attack: Where Right attacks his opponent with two to five punches and/or kicks in quick succession. Learned at Level 2.
---Work Up: Where Right ups his own strength/attack, both physical and special. It also has the bonus effect of making his "Imagination" stronger - aka, helping him focus on creating the "winning image" in his head. Learned at Level 4.
---Pound: Where Right gives his opponent a good punch - usually a right or left hook. If it crits, it'll knock his opponent off their feet, so to speak. Learned at Level 7. Replaced with Mega Punch at Level 45.
---Fairy Wind: Where Right channels his Fairy powers through his blade and sends it out as a blast from a mid-air slash. A variation can be performed with a round-house kick directed at his opponent. Learned at Level 10.
---Feint: Where Right gets around a Pokemon or Enlightened using either Protect or Detect in order to land a hit. This will also remove the effects of those moves. Learned at Level 14.
---Follow Me: Where Right makes the target(s) focus their entire attention onto him, and no one else. Handy when he's in battle and needs to draw enemy fire away from weaker or injured friends. Also handy when he's trying to get a bunch of people to pay attention to what he's trying to say or do. Learned at Level 18
---Endure: Where Right withstands an attack and is still left standing...but only barely (aka, only one 1 HP left). This is something he would normally reserve for hard battles. Learned at Level 22.
---Disarming Voice: Where Right sings or speaks in a charming manner towards and and all targets within range. In battle, it does cause sound-based damage. A non-harmful version can be used to help calm or charm people. In either situations, it never misses, and can only be blocked by Protect, Detect, or the ability Soundproof. Learned at Level 25 after Right evolves.
---Swift: Where Right fires star-shaped rays at his enemies. This attack never misses. Learned at Level 29.
---Crafty Shield: Where Right protects his allies from status-causing moves with a mysterious force (which he believes to be an extension of his Imagination). It doesn't, however, block any moves that causes damage. Learned at Level 33.
---Metronome: Where Right uses a random move out of the blue for varying affects. Nearly any kind of Pokemon move can be used in this case. Learned at Level 37.
---Play Rough: Where Right 'plays rough' with his opponent - aka, 'rough-houses' with them. Because of the playful nature, it may sometimes lower the attack/strength of his opponent. Learned at Level 41.
---Mega Punch: An upgraded version of his Pound, this move is guaranteed to send foes flying thru a wall if it crits. Learned at Level 45.
---Slash: Where Right slashes at his opponent with his charged-up sword. Learned at Level 50.
---Dizzying Punch: Where Right hits his target with rhythmically launched punches that may also leave it confused. Learned at Level 60.
---Misty Terrain: Where Right covers the ground around himself and/or his allies for at least five turns; this move will help prevent those on the ground from being inflicted with status conditions. Learned at Level 65.
---Dark Pulse: Where Right releases a horrible aura imbued with dark thoughts (and feelings); the target(s) may end up flinching from this attack. Learned at Level 70 AFTER Right's second evolution.
